Michael Robertson Qualifies For The U.S. Olympic Team In The Discus

Eugene, Ore.- On the final day of the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials, Michael Robertson became the fourth Stanford grad to qualify for the 2008 Olympics in Beijing. Robertson placed second in the discus to punch his ticket to his first Olympics.

Eugene, Ore.- It was big day for a pair of former Stanford throwers, highlighted by Jillian Camarena who qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team in the shot put. Camarena becomes the third Stanford grad to make the team, joining Erica McLain in the triple jump and Ian Dobson in the 5,000 meters.

Ian Dobson ('05) Makes U.S. Olympic Track And Field Team In The 5,000 Meters

Eugene, Ore.- The U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials continued on Monday evening with several Stanford competitors. The Cardinal were highlighted by Ian Dobson ('05) who used a strong final kick to hold on for third place in the 5,000 meters to qualify for the U.S. Olympic Team. Dobson overcame a loaded field in the event to make his first Olympic Team. Dobson ran a time of 13:29.76 and will join World Champion Bernard Lagat and Matt Tegenkemp on the U.S. 5,000 meter team.

Beijing Bound: Erica McLain Qualifies For The U.S. Olympic Team

Eugene, Ore.- Two weeks after capturing the NCAA title in the triple jump, Erica McLain qualified for the U.S. Olympic Team by placing third at the U.S. Olympic Track and Field Trials. McLain will now head to Beijing, China to compete in the 2008 Summer Olympic Games.
