MPSF Season Underway
Complete Release in PDF Format Stanford hosts its first conference matches of the year this weekend, with competition against the #12 USC Trojans and the #3 Pepperdine Waves. Both matches will take place in Burnham Pavilion with Stanford facing USC at 7:00 PM on Friday and Pepperdine at 7:00 PM on Saturday. Stanford begins league play with a 1-2 record against MPSF opponents in non-conference play. The Cardinal rank eighth in the country with a chance to improve that mark this weekend. The Cardinal split two matches against the Trojans in 2004 while dropping its two meetings against the Waves. 4000 CLUB: Fifth-year senior Kevin Hansen needs 39 assists to become the fourth player in Stanford history to record over 4,000 assists. Hansen currently ranks fourth among Stanford career leaders in assists with 3,961. Hansen is currently averaging 13.08 assists per game in 2005, with a career mark of 13.12 assists per game, ranking eighth all-time. OFFENSIVE PRODUCTION: Stanford has been led in kills by three different players this season. Middle blockers Craig Buell, and Chris Ahlfeldt along with outside hitter Ben Reddy have all fueled the Stanford offensive attack giving the Cardinal a variety of offensive firepower.
